El Boo
Design and teaser campaign for Nate Merino’s album.
Album design, music video, stills, and teaser campaign for the artist’s album “EL BOO”, done in collaboration with other artists and professionals.

Client
Nate Merino is a Spanish music artist who works in different genres such as hip-hop, reggaeton and pop.
He made the music for the album alongside producer Timin’ Polo, with whom he collaborates in many of his projects.
Concept for the album
The project deals with themes like fame, ego, the path to success, doubt and self-sabotage. The latter is represented in the album through the artist’s alter ego: the Boo.
This character plays a key role both in the songs’ lyrics and the music video shot for the single “BOO”.
Teaser campaign
For the album’s release several single releases were scheduled, interspersed with active presence in social media.
The idea behind the campaign was to show Nate Merino kidnapped by his own alter ego, and the album release would represent him breaking free.

The song "Vertigo" was released as a promotional single for the album.

Then, the song "Zero K" was also released as a second promotional single.
Many photos in streets picturing street furniture advertisements were taken in cities like Madrid, Logroño and Zaragoza. These photos were used to make mock-ups with the teaser posters for the album. Then, those images were sent to a list of people that uploaded them to Instagram Stories, as if they took the pictures themselves. The idea was to give the campaign a feeling of importance without having to spend money on real posters.
With the album’s release, the teaser campaign ended, and we started to promote the final product through social media and digital marketing with Google Ads.
Design for the album
Despite the record premiering on digital platforms, additionally to the album cover the back cover of the album was designed to advertise on social media and to possibly use it in future releases on CD or vinyl.

The front cover shows an ethereal image of Nate Merino, looking more like a ghoul than a person.

The back cover’s background is a texture like the ones on the front cover. The lettering with the album’s name, the song list with features and the credits are placed over this texture.
Music Video
A music video was shot for the song “BOO”. In the video, the lettering is used again in an animated version.
Stills
Quique Ojeda took the stills during the shooting of the video using film cameras. He used color film for promotional images and black and white film for the BTS.
Several posters for the music video were made with these pictures.
